The Loyalty Firm artists at SXSW 2013, 35 Denton & My Education tours Europe

Being a company based in Austin,TX has many advantages.  Besides being located in one of the most vibrant cities in America, surrounded by great food and great people, there are an amazing number of music festivals.   For the music, film and tech nerd in us all, nothing caters to all those mediums like SXSW does.  I have always considered the festival a Spring Break for us industry types and the way it has grown over the years highlights not only what a great and truly unique festival that SXSW is, but what a great city Austin,TX is as well.  With that said, The Loyalty Firm is proud to announce that both our artists, My Education & Oh Look Out, will be performing showcases and parties during the festival for all to attend.

Oh Look Out new album out now, new video for Velcro Wolf

First of all, to all our East Coast friends facing the wrath of Hurricane Sandy, please be safe as you can be!  Our thoughts/prayers are out there for all of you…..

Well, it is finally here:  the new album from Austin,TX band Oh Look Out called Orchestrated Fuzz.  You can find the album at all the usual suspects, Itunes, Bandcamp, Spotify, Amazon MP3, etc.  Get your copy today!  (Pro-tip: the album is cheapest on Bandcamp.com)

If you didn’t see our last post about Oh Look Out, the new album Orchestrated Fuzz is an amazing set of anxious, powerful, poppy indie songs wrapped up in 9 tracks that will take your breath away.  Don’t just take my word for it, some early reviews are in and they have nothing but great things to say!

“Oh Look Out is making what sounds like the pop of the future – bite-sized and frantic.” – Ovrld

“Lo-fi Jedi!” – How Did I Get Here

Tracklisting:

1.  Velcro Wolf

2.  Or Be Destroyed

3.  Monster Fiction

4.  It’s Alive

5.  It’s Not Too Bad

6.  Wearing It Out

7.  I Have Never Exploded

8.  Monotone Hooray

9.  Nothing Makes Sense

All song written & recorded at home by JP Pfertner

Weird Kids Music, 2012 (ASCAP)

Earlier in the month, Oh Look Out release their first video off the album for the track ‘Monster Fiction‘.  That video was super rad with all the talking 80s action figures but the new video for ‘Velcro Wolf‘ is for the animation lovers as it takes you into the world of 8-bit video games and reminds you of Summers spent playing Nintendo or Sega.  Follow the main character of the video chase their lost brain and turn into a wolf in the process!  Can the main character catch their brain before its too late?  Watch and see this stunning video animated and directed by JP.  Click HERE to check it out!

As always, thank you for supporting good music and stopping by the website.  Keep coming back to check out new updates from The Loyalty Firm roster and expect more videos, free mp3s, awesome live shows and more.

Have a great Halloween tomorrow!

My Education performs live score to Sunrise @ Alamo Drafthouse this Sunday!

There comes those rare moments in time when you experience something that feels otherworldly.  Maybe it was the first time you fell in love, you were moved by a short story or you had your favorite band take you on a journey.  One of my favorite moments came with a cinematic experience coupled with live music.  This was a few years ago when I caught My Education performing their all original live score to the silent classic film ‘Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans’.  I was taken back by how great the film was and how the story was still relevant in this day and age.  Underneath the screen was My Education performing their soundtrack which gave the film an enhanced meaning.  Scenes popped off the screen, emotions cut through in highs and lows.  This was an experience that left me with goosebumps and it was something I have looked for the band to do since.

Your chance is now.  You get a chance to experience or re-experience this on Sunday, September 9th at the Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar in Austin,TX.  There will be two screenings, one at 4pm CST and another at 7pm CST.  This will be more than likely the last chance to see the band perform their live score to this classic film.  You. Do. Not. Want. To. Miss. This.

Tickets can be purchased on the Alamo Drafthouse website, CLICK HERE, and look on the right side of the web page that says SHOWTIMES IN AUSTIN.  All ages can attend and again, this is an event you do not want to miss.  Here’s what people have said about the film along with the live score that My Education performs with it:

“ST 37 (Metropolis), Golden Arm Trio (Battleship Potemkin), Brown Whörnet (Nosferatu), and the Friends of Dean Martinez (The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari): Austin’s DIY film score contingent slays the silents. My Education (Sunrise) now enters that hall of fame.” - Raoul HernandezAustin Chronicle

“A screening of “Sunrise,” a silent film from 1927, with Austin-based My Education playing the live score, was one of the best movie-going experiences of my life. It knocked me out…” -  Rachel Stone, Oak Cliff Advocate

“I’ve seen quite a few silent films scored by live musicians, but none quite as transfixing as Sunrise Friday night at the Texas Theatre, accompanied by the Austin post-rock band My Education.” -Chris Vognar/Movie Critic – Dallas Morning News

“I don’t use the phrase “out-of-body experience” too often. But last night I most definitely did have one.” - Liz Casanova, Pulp Lizard Media

Treat yourself to a new experience and get your tickets today!  I will see you Sunday behind the merch both after the show where we will have t-shirts from My Education as well as their original soundtrack for purchase on CD or Vinyl.
